فضيلة الأستاذ/ محمد مهـدي عاكـف
- من مواليد كفر عوض السنيطة -مركز أجا دقهلية ، مدرسة (المنصورة) الابتدائية، ثم التوجيهية من مدرسة (فؤاد الأول) الثانوية بالقاهرة، ثم التحق بالمعهد العالي للتربية الرياضية، وتخرج في مايو 1950م.
- عمل بعد تخرجه مدرسًا للرياضة البدنية بمدرسة (فؤاد الأول) الثانوية.
- عرف الإخوان في وقت مبكر في عام 1940 م، وتربى على شيوخ الإخوان وعلمائهم، وعلى رأسهم حسن البنا، وكان من أحبِّ المشايخ إلى نفسه محب الدين الخطيب.
- التحق بكلية الحقوق 1951م، ورأس معسكرات جامعة إبراهيم (عين شمس حاليًا) في الحرب ضد الإنجليز في القناة حتى قامت الثورة، وسلَّم معسكرات الجامعة لـكمال الدين حسين المسئول عن الحرس الوطني آنذاك.
- كما إنه كان رئيسًا لقسم التربية الرياضية بالمركز العام للإخوان المسلمين.
- قُبض عليه في أول أغسطس 1954م، وحُوكم بتهمة تهريب اللواء عبدالمنعم عبد الرؤوف - أحد قيادات الجيش وأحد أعلام الاخوان - والذي أشرف على طرد "الملك فاروق"- وحُكم عليه بالإعدام، ثم خُفف الحكم إلى الأشغال الشاقة المؤبدة.
- خرج من السجن سنة 1974م في عهد الرئيس المصري الراحل أنور السادات ليزاول عمله كمدير عام للشباب بوزارة التعمير.
- انتقل إلى الرياض بالسعودية ليعمل مستشارًا للندوة العالمية للشباب الإسلامي، ومسئولاً عن مخيماتها الدولية ومؤتمراتها.
- اشترك في تنظيم أكبر المخيمات للشباب الإسلامي على الساحة العالمية بدءًا من السعودية، والأردن، وماليزيا، وبنجلاديش، وتركيا، وأستراليا، ومالي، وكينيا، وقبرص، وألمانيا، وبريطانيا، وأمريكا.
- عمل مديرًا للمركز الإسلامي بميونخ.
- شغل عضوية مكتب الإرشاد أعلى هيئة قيادية داخل الجماعة منذ عام 1987م حتى اليوم .
- انتخب عضوًا بمجلس الشعب سنة 1987م عن دائرة شرق القاهرة ،وذلك ضمن قائمة التحالف الإسلامي التي خاض الاخوان الانتخابات تحت مظلتها .
- قُدِّم للمحاكمة العسكرية سنة 1996م؛ فيما يعرف بقضية سلسبيل والتي ضمت وقتها عدد كبير من قيادات الإخوان المسلمين، وقد اتهمه الادعاء بأنه المسئول عن التنظيم العالمي للإخوان المسلمين ، وحُكم عليه بثلاث سنوات، ليخرج من السجن في عام1999م.
- له علاقات طيبة بمعظم قيادات العمل الإسلامي في العالم
- متزوج وله أربعة أولاد.

Ustaz Mohammed Mahdi Akef
He was born on 12th July 1928 in Kafr Awad Al Seneita –Aga -Dakahleya Province –north of Egypt
The year Mr Akef was born was the same year in which the Muslim Brotherhood Movement was founded –March 1928
He got his Primary Certificate of Education at Al Mansoura Primary School
Then he obtained his Secondary Certificate of Education at Cairo- Fuad 1st Secondary School
After that he joined the Higher Institute of Physical Education and graduated in May 1950
After graduation, he worked as a teacher at Fuad 1st Secondary School
He knew Muslim Brotherhood in 1940 and was brought up at the hands of the Brotherhood "s sheiks and scholars, at the top of whom was the martyr mam Hassan al Banna –May Allah be pleased with him
Of the sheiks he loved most was Sheikh Mohebeddin al Khatib. Ustaz Akef joined the Faculty of Law and assumed the responsibility of the camps in Ibrahim University (currently Ein Shams University) This was during the war against the British occupation in the Canal until the 1952 Revolution, after which he left responsibility to Kamaleddin Hussein , the then National Guard Chief
The last Sections he headed in the Muslim Brotherhood before 1954 were both the Students Section and the PE Section at the Group"s HQ
He was arrested on 1st August 1954 and stood on trial on charges among which was smuggling Major General Abdul Munem Abderraoof (one of the Army chiefs who spearheaded the ouster and expulsion of King Farouq and was sentenced to death in absentia then the ruling was commuted to life imprisonment)
Akef was released in 1974 and was reappointed General Manager of Youth – a department affiliated to the Ministry of Reconstruction
He then moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – to work as an advisor for the World Forum of Muslim Youth and was in charge of its camps and conferences
He took part in organizing the biggest camps for the Muslim youth on the world arena; in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Australia, Mali, Kenya, Cyprus, Germany, Britain and America
He assumed the position of Director of Islamic Centre in Munich
He has been a member of the Steering Bureau (Guidance Bureau) of the Muslim Brotherhood, since 1987 until now
He was elected Member of Parliament in 1987 for the East Cairo electoral constituency
In 1996 he was court-martialed charged with being head of the Muslim Brotherhood International Organization, and was sentenced to three years
He was released in 1999. He is in good terms with the leading Islamic action figures worldwide
He is married and has got four children
